Lion & Unicorn Theatre relaunches March 12th 2019!

London’s Lion & Unicorn Theatre to relaunch under new management: David Brady, Artistic Director of fast rising Proforca Theatre Company.

Proforca Theatre Company, which has rapidly built a reputation with its touring Off West End productions including Reading Gaol and Feel, is taking over management of the Lion & Unicorn Theatre, the 60-seat black box studio based above the newly renovated Lion & Unicorn pub in Kentish Town, London.

Under Proforca, and its artistic director David Brady, the relaunched Lion & Unicorn Theatre will provide a home for the best, diverse pool of theatre making talent with exciting plans and favourable artist terms.

As part of its opening season, the new Lion & Unicorn officially launches with Proforca’s own critically acclaimed productions of James Lewis’ Feel and spin-off series of new monologues from six other writers Feel More, transferring to the theatre on 8th March following its recent run at The Space and a short regional tour.

Programming submissions for spring, summer and Camden Fringe are also now open and being accepted via the theatre’s new website. For more information and to apply, visit www.thelionandunicorntheatre.com and come along to the Lion & Unicorn’s industry launch event.

To celebrate and announce further plans, Proforca are inviting industry guests and theatregoers for fizz, a Q&A with industry and company patrons, and a special performance of Feel on Tuesday 12th March 2019. All tickets are offered on a “Pay what you can” basis (donations welcome for the running of the new theatre).

Feel by James Lewis 8th-14th March

“One day, maybe even tomorrow, and maybe only once, I want to wake up and feel it. Feel like today is the day when I'm not going to feel so bloody awful and alone all the time…”

Jamie and Naomi collide on a weekend that will cause them to question everything they ever thought they knew about themselves.

Nick meets Karen and their lives will never be the same again.

In a world where love can be swiped on a whim and the path of your whole life is determined by the delay of just one train, is there ever the right time to say what you really feel?

Proforça Theatre Company presents this critically acclaimed new piece of writing about a search for fulfilment, second-hand love and the hope of one day becoming something better than you are.

Because sometimes, to follow your heart you have to give it away to someone else.

Feel is written by James Lewis and directed by David Brady.

Running Time: 110 Minutes Approx (15 Minute Interval)
Contains strong language and adult themes.

Feel More by seven new writers – Seven more stories from the world of Feel

“Imagine that person you stood next to on the platform this morning. The guy behind the bar that listens. The girl trying to reach someone and the guy from the morning after the night before. Then there’s the woman from UKIP or whatever she is who keeps giving out those stickers. Imagine someone else's life. How do you think they feel?”

8.7 Million stories. The sound of 8.7 million hearts beating. 8.7 million pairs of lungs breathing the same air. 8.7 million hopes and dreams in the same city. Sharing the same sky and the same tunnels and all of them trying to find their own path.

Imagine someone else's life, just for a minute.

But with 8.7 million people all talking at once is it possible to find your own voice and make it loud enough to truly tell someone how you really feel?

Written by Hannah Bates, Marcus Bernard, Paul Bradshaw, Fergus Church, Jack Albert Cook, James Lewis and Alexander Knott.

Directed by Jess Barton

Executive Producer, David Brady
